View model settings for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive can make a really big difference while you are playing, so adjusting them can enhance your gaming experience immensely. If you haven’t changed the view model setting yet, then you should give it a try, and see what a difference it makes in gameplay.

The view model for CS:GO is basically what you see of the gun in front of you during gameplay. In simplest terms, the bigger the gun view is, the tougher it is to see the enemies in front of you. So, it’s in your best interest to adjust the view model so the gun is shown as small as possible. That way, you can clearly see the targets.

You can make this happen by lowering the gun and pulling it inward, which will achieve the effect of making the gun look smaller on the screen. But you can also adjust the settings to get a similar effect.

The Script

The following script is the best viewpoint to use for gameplay, this comes highly recommended, especially for avid users that want to get as far as they can in the game. This script can be copied and put into your configuration, or you can copy the commands directly into your console.

Best View Model For 1024X768 Resolution:

cl_righthand “1”
viewmodel_offset_x “0”
viewmodel_offset_y “-2”
viewmodel_offset_z “-2”
viewmodel_fov “54”
cl_bobamt_lat “0.1”
cl_bobamt_vert “0.1”
cl_bobcycle “0.1”
cl_viewmodel_shift_left_amt “0.5”
cl_viewmodel_shift_right_amt “0.5”

This ensures that you have the best view model when gaming, and are able to see your enemies the best you possibly can. You can also switch a few of these up a little bit to customize it for the best gaming experience.

The look of the gun on the screen will be like the photo above, with the gun towards the center and a clear view of what is in front of you. This is a great way to play because you are able to see what is happening around you and be ready for anything.

If you want to customize the setting further, then you can use a few of these suggestions below to make your gameplay even more comfortable for you.

cl_righthand “1”-You can change the ‘1’ to a ‘0’ if you are left-handed, or if you like having the gun in that hand better.

viewmodel_offset_x “0”-If you would like the gun to be centered, then you change the ‘0’ to a ‘-2’ so that it will be in the center of the screen more.

How Do You Use These Configurations?

If you have never done this before, then you may be wondering how you put this script to use in the game. Well, there are a few things that you have to do to change these viewpoint settings.

In order to be able to use these settings for CS:GO you will need to make an ‘autoexec.cfg’ file in your CS:GO configuration folder.

This is usually found in- C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg

You can copy the setting that is from above and save them as the ‘autoexec.cfg.’ Then you will need to open up the file, and put this in the bottom line: exec autoexec

By doing this, you will have your settings load whenever you start CS:GO. Although, the script may reset whenever you restart your CS:GO, and this can be annoying to do every time you want to start gaming with your settings already there.

To do this, you can add this to your autoexec file:

viewmodel_presetpos “0”
host_writeconfig

By adding this, you will be able to use these settings as the default every time you play the game, so you don’t have to go through all the steps each time you want to play CS:GO.

Best View Model For 1920X1080

The view model that is best for the 4:3 resolution isn’t going to be the best for another resolution, so you’ll probably want a different model for the 1920X1080 resolution. So, keeping in mind all the steps that we already went over to put the script into the configuration, then just add this view model instead of the one mentioned before.

With each resolution, the ratio is different, so the look of the screen will vary depending on which one you use. The former was 4:3, this resolution is 16:9. This script is one that is made for optimum use on this resolution.

Here is the script for this view model:

viewmodel_fov “68”

viewmodel_offset_x “2.5”

viewmodel_offset_y “0”

viewmodel_offset_z “-1.5”

cl_viewmodel_shift_left_amt “0.500000”

cl_viewmodel_shift_right_amt “0.250000”

cl_bob_lower_amt “21”

cl_bobamt_lat “0.33”

cl_bobamt_vert “0.14”

This is what the screen will look like after you change the view model and the settings are put to use:

To use this script, do the same steps that we went through for the first script used with the other resolution, and you will be able to change the view model to these settings. Don’t forget to set the view model to the default so you don’t have to change it manually every time you start playing.

Each view model changes the way you see the game, and with each resolution, there is a view model that tends to work best. However, that doesn’t mean that it is one size fits all. Each player is different and plays best in different settings. So, trying them out and figuring out what you like the best is the only way to ensure that you get the greatest gameplay.

The great thing about this customization is that the choices are pretty much unlimited. You can learn to change the settings, and the script, to fit exactly how you want to play. If you want the gun to be slightly bigger on the screen than most players do, that doesn’t mean it won’t work well for the game.

You can switch up the settings until you find your favorite, and see what works the best when you are playing. This way, you can find the most comfortable way settings to play with, and be able to play the best you’re able. A little tweak here and there, and you’ll be a pro in no time.

Want to make an autoexec file for CSGO? Follow our no nonsense guide below to get your own autoexec config file created within minutes.

Once we’ve explained how you can make your own autoexec file, we’ll offer some details on what can be included in it and why using an autoexec file is useful in the first place.

How To Make Your Own Autoexec File For CSGO

csgo autoexec file

First, you need to find the location of your CS:GO installation. This is very easy. Open up Steam, go to your games library, and find Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

Next, follow the steps below:

  • Right click Counter Strike: Global Offensive
  • Click properties
  • Click local files
  • Click browse local files

You’ll now be in the right location to find your autoexec file. You may want to make note of this location because it’s often the same for all PCs that have CSGO installed on it.

Next, you need to track down the exact autoexec location.

In the Windows Explorer that should now be open, follow the steps below:

  • Click csgo
  • Click cfg
  • Click ‘view’ at the top
  • Click the checkbox next to ‘file name extensions’
  • Finally, search for ‘autoexec.cfg’

Don’t see it? Don’t worry, just follow the steps below instead:

  • In the cfg folder, right click an empty space
  • Click new, then click text document
  • Name the file ‘autoexec.cfg’ and then press enter

You’ll now have your autoexec file ready.

Regardless of whether you had to create your own or not, double click to open the autoexec.cfg file.

You can now enter any commands into this autoexec.cfg file. The commands you can enter are the same commands you’d usually enter into the CSGO console in-game.

Don’t know what to put in your autoexec file or can’t remember what codes exist? We have a cheat sheet below.

Autoexec File Guide and Commands Cheat Sheet

csgo autoexec commands

In this section, we’ll offer some tips on what commands to include in your autoexec file.

Custom buy keybinds

With custom buy keybinds, you can make it possible to buy your gear setup with one single button press. For example, if you want to be able to press a single button for a full buy round, a custom buy keybind is useful.

Putting together your own buy keybind can be complicated, so we’d suggest using this tool. You can copy the command code it gives you and paste it into your autoexec.cfg file.

Volume

For some reason, Valve thought it’d be a good idea to make deafeningly loud in-game sound levels and throw in a bunch of music throughout each round too. The volume commands below help to reduce the volume to a more reasonable level and turn off all music.

You can adjust the levels for each music option to your own taste, but you may find it’s easy to just keep them off completely. The most important command here is volume. You’ll need to find what level is best for you before adding it.

  • volume 0.2
  • snd_musicvolume 0
  • snd_mapobjective_volume 0
  • snd_tensecondwarning_volume 0
  • snd_deathcamera_volume 0
  • snd_menumusic_volume 0
  • snd_roundstart_volume 0
  • snd_roundend_volume 0

Mute Voice Chat

Need a moment of quiet whilst trying to clutch? You can create keybinds to toggle the voice chat on and off.

Place the following into your autoexec file and replace YOUR KEY HERE with whichever key you’d like to use.

bindtoggle “YOUR KEY HERE” “voice_enable”

Alternatively, you can quieten down your teammates temporarily with these two commands. You’ll need two seperate keys. One for the original volume and one for the quieter volume.

bindtoggle “YOUR KEY HERE” “voice_scale 0.2”

bindtoggle “YOUR KEY HERE” “voice_scale 1”

Generate a Crosshair

If you move across different computers, this one is very important. It’s easier to remember the other commands, but remembering your own crosshair command is not easy.

If you use the Crashz’ crosshair generator map, you can automatically generate a command that you can paste into your autoexec file.

Alternatively, use this tool to create your own crosshair. The command for it will be updated live. Once you’ve created your crosshair, just copy the command and paste it into your autoexec file.

Commands for Monitoring Performance

We’ll be offering a number of commands for monitoring performance below. We’d suggest choosing a specific key to toggle these on and off, but we’ll be including the base code to allow you to automatically turn it on by default via your autoexec file, too.

Monitor your network performance and frames per second:

net_graph 1

bindtoggle “YOUR KEY HERE” “net_graph1”

Only show your frames per second in the top left:

cl_showfps 1

bindtoggle “YOUR KEY HERE” “cl_showfps 1”

Limit your max FPS. Useful for streaming performance at higher frame rates. Change ‘999’ to the fps cap you’d like. Usually, there’s no need to go much higher than your screen refresh rate.

fps_max 999

bindtoggle “YOUR KEY HERE” “fps_max 999”

Quit the game or disconnect

This one is useful for when you want to quit or disconnect from a match quickly. The ‘quit’ command will make your game close, whilst ‘disconnect’ will send you back to the main menu. If you want to use these commands in your autoexec file, you’ll need to bind keys to the commands.

bind “YOUR KEY HERE” “quit”

bind “YOUR KEY HERE” “disconnect”

Where Can I Find More Commands?

There are plenty of sources and guides online to help you with useful commands and scripts to add to your autoexec file. If you want to find as list of every command you can use, you can read up on the full command list from Valve here.

What is an Autoexec File?

In CSGO, an autoexec is essentially a config file that always get executed when you first start up your game.

This means that you can ensure you always get the same settings, regardless of whether you change account or are using a new computer.

The great thing is that once you’ve set up an autoexec file to your heart’s content, you can save it to a USB drive or save it on the cloud. You’ll then be able to use it in the future on any other computer.

Why Are Autoexec Files Useful?

There are many reasons why autoexec files are useful. Below, we’ve showcased some examples where an autoexec file will save you unneeded frustration

  • You are a pro player that regularly uses computers at LANs that aren’t your own
  • You play on multiple accounts
  • Sometimes settings in CSGO reset themselves, for example after an update

Summary

That wraps up our guide on how to create an autoexec file in CSGO. We hope this guide has proven to be useful.

What Is The Best Crosshair For CS GO?

If you have landed on this article you are probably aware of the importance of proper crosshair settings. We are not going to go over the importance of those settings but we will say that proper crosshair settings can make the difference between a good player and a great one.

If you have watched any CS GO streamer recently, you already know that almost all of them use some sort of a small static crosshair.

I believe you should customize your crosshair based on your own play-style. So, without further ado, let’s start analyzing some pro player crosshairs and use them as our starting point.

THE TOP 5 CROSSHAIRS IN THE WORLD

You can check out all the crosshairs on this list using our pro CS:GO players database or use the crosshair map as shown in the video below.

n0thing – Best overall

n0thing is probably the most likable personality in CS GO. His crosshair is used by a large number of players and for a good reason. If you take a closer look at n0thing’s crosshair you might suspect it looks very similar to the default crosshair and you would be right. n0thing is using a very simple static crosshair with slight modifications.

The crosshair is of moderate size and is colored the normal neon green color. The thickness and length values are also a little higher than the default ones.

The end result is a beautiful robust crosshair that can be used across all situations. n0thing is a rifler but you can use it for AWPing as well because the crosshair is big enough while maintaining the center gap small for rifling.

We highly recommend you to check out n0thing’s detailed profile page on our site to learn more about his crosshair settings and gear.

KennyS – Best for AWPers

KennyS is one of the best AWPers to ever play the game. We chose him as our first example because of his rather simple crosshair. KennyS crosshair is a great example of the standard Pro player crosshair and we highly recommend every player to start with a crosshair similar to KennyS.kennyscrosshair

As you can tell from the picture to the right KennyS crosshair is very simple it features the popular light blue color and it looks like your normal static crosshair.

We highly recommend you to start with a simple crosshair and welcome you to copy KennyS exact crosshair settings from his profile page on our site.

Stewie2k – Best for Riflers

Stewie2K is one of the most popular CS GO players in the world. He is using a very small static crosshair. Small crosshairs are typically used by riflers to more easily hit headshots and improve their overall aimStewie2k crosshair. The reason Stewie and a lot of other riflers don’t use large crosshairs is that in most cases large crosshairs can slightly decrease your accuracy with weapons such as the AK-47 or M4A4. You will mostly see AWPers such as KennyS use bigger crosshairs to more easily envision their AWP scope.

We recommend you to use Stewie2k’s crosshair if you are a rifler and already possess a decent aim as smaller crosshairs tend to have a steeper learning curve.

You can check out Stewie’s exact crosshair settings on his dedicated page on our website.

F0rest – Best for AWP/Rifler (Hybrids)

F0rest crosshair from youtubeF0rest is one of the best players in the history of counter strike. We have seen F0rest alternate between a few different types of crosshairs. It seems as he has finally settled with his current yellowish crosshair. His crosshair is perfect for those of you who double as both AWPers and Riflers.

The reason F0rest’s crosshair is so good for both AWPers and Riflers is its color and size. F0rest is using a fairly neutral color and an overall medium size. This combination allows the user to easily hit headshots thanks to the relative size and color and also helps the player envision an AWP scope thanks to the rather long lines.

We highly recommend you to use F0rest’s crosshair if you are playing as an AWPer/Rifler.

 Olofmeister – Best for veterans

Olofmeister is another worlds class player and probably the best player on our list. Olofmeister is using the most advanced crosshair on our list for the simple fact that it is white. White crosshairs are the best if you get Olofmeister crosshairused to them, other than the unusual color Olofmeister is using pretty standard thickness and length parameters.

We highly recommend you to start with some of the other crosshairs on this list before you start using this type of partially transparent crosshairs.

That being said, with enough practice you can get proficient with a white crosshair and enjoy the most flawless aiming experience thanks to the fact that white crosshairs won’t interfere with anything going on in the game and won’t be a distraction or hide any valuable information from your sight.

Faceit, ESEA or CEVO – What PUG service should You use?

Short answer: ESEA by a landslide! Read below to learn why.

We have all encountered hackers, flamers and other “toxic” players on the traditional CS:GO matchmaking system. If you are like me you probably expected more from the official matchmaking system and were disappointed by how many aim-botters slip through the valve anti-cheat system. When I finally made it to the global elite, I’ve had enough, even at that level of play people were aim-botting and I was interested in more “competitive” options such as the ESEA league.

So, I decided to try some of the 3rd party options available in the market and that’s when I stumbled upon ESEA, CEVO and FACEIT. These are the three major players in the market and I have used them for quite some time now. Here are my experiences with each of the services.

ESEA Review

My biggest problem with the official matchmaking service is the cheaters, that’s why I first turned to ESEA which is known for its state of the art anti-cheat system. ESEA’s anti-cheat is so good that I have never encountered a cheater playing 100’s of games on the platform. ESEA’s league is also a major plus and one of their biggest selling points. The ESEA league offers big money prizes and it’s one of the most competitive experiences you can have playing as a non-pro.

In addition, ESEA runs 128 tick servers which are even better than the official servers! I have never encountered any crashes or lags playing on their servers and I think the overall playing experience is flawless. Recruiting players for your team is also made easy using ESEA’s recruiting system.

ESEA does have some flaws which include the lack of a proper ladder and the extremely intrusive anti-cheat software. With that being said, these flaws are nothing compared the super enjoyable in-game experience, the ESEA league and the other competitive activities which are the best you can get as a non pro!

 esea live studio

CEVO Review

CEVO is free to play and has some quite good 128 tick servers, it also features a decent client and a truly free-to-play experience. But, CEVO comes at the 3rd place for me because of its lack of the more advanced features you can find on the other platforms. There are no leagues you can play, No proper queues, no ladder system and people tend to throw matches because of the fact that CEVO is free to play.

All in all, I wouldn’t recommend using CEVO as it doesn’t really solve the problems in the traditional matchmaking and I don’t see a reason I would play the CEVO servers other than the fact they are free to play. That being said, CEVO is free to play and it can be a great introduction into the world of 3rd party CS GO servers. I highly recommend you to try CEVO for yourself and get used to their matchmaking system. Playing the CEVO servers can also be a great opportunity to play against better more invested players.

Faceit Review

I am kind of torn between ESEA and Faceit, ESEA is the more popular solution, however, Faceit features some of the great features from ESEA and more! Faceit has a proper ladder system and an overall enjoyable experience when in game. It also has one of the best freemium options in store and I really love playing it in the free-to-play model. But, unfortunately, Faceit has two big downsides: a very bad anti-cheat system and the servers are pretty laggy. There is also no proper client and you will find yourself frustrated with how hard it is to navigate the Faceit website.

For all of those reasons I still prefer ESEA even if Faceit has the superior Ladder system. In my opinion, a proper ladder system is a must have feature and we highly recommend you to pick Faceit if a ladder system is a must have for you too.

Verdict

As you can probably tell my clear winner is ESEA they are the most popular service for a reason. The server stability and overall in-game experience are extraordinary and the player base is super nice! ESEA simply offers the most features for the price. You can play casually or dive into the ESEA league and get your feet wet in the semi-pro world. I highly encourage you to try ESEA only after you have gained some experience in the normal ladder and are looking for the “next level” of play.

To finish I would like to thank you for reading this article, I hope you have learned something new and found the service that’s right for you!

What Is The Best Monitor Resolution For Counter-Strike?

Playing with the wrong settings can degrade your aim and positioning in almost any game and especially in Counter strike. Most players adjust their mouse settings to their taste but forget one of the most neglected aspects of the game which is the resolution. The resolution can affect your field of view, how large your enemies hitboxes appear and even the perceived speed of yourself and your opponents. Today we will show you some of the most popular resolutions and explain their pros and cons.

1920X1080

The most popular resolution in CS:GO and in most other games is 1920×1080 as it is the native resolution of most modern monitors. You are probably playing CS:GO on this resolution too, and that’s a major Disadvantage! 1920×1080 does make everything look sharper, but it also makes everything a little harder to hit.

Playing with a lower resolution and a lower aspect ratio (With stretched) makes enemies appear larger thus making them a little easier to hit. With that being said playing with a lower resolution will lower your field of view and make everything feel a little more focused on the middle of the screen.

Regardless of the minor disadvantages of playing with higher resolutions, we think you should only play with 1920×1080 if you don’t really care about performance that much and feel that a more beautiful game outweighs the benefits of better aim or if you are concerned about the larger field of view and don’t want to lose it.

Black bars vs Stretched

Black bars are used by a few pros with the vast majority using the stretched scaling mode. We believe stretched is the way to go because it helps you hit more shots and makes everything a little easier to see. However, some pros say that Black bars help their aim and help them envision their AWP scope better. We think that it’s a placebo effect and from our tests, playing on stretched mode will improve your performance more than playing with black bars will. We believe that most pros who play with black-bars are simply used to it from the 1.6 and source days and don’t bother to make the switch.

As you can clearly tell our personal winner is the “stretched” scaling mode.

1024 x 768

As we have mentioned before, the vast majority of pros use 1024×768 or 1280×960 with an aspect ratio of 4:3 using the “Stretched” scaling mode. You are welcome to check that for yourself and take a look at our CS:GO pros database.

Using the resolutions mentioned above will make hit boxes appear larger thus making them easier to hit. However, you will only gain that advantage when using the “stretched” scaling mode with a 4:3 aspect ratio. These settings are our personal CS:GO settings and what we recommend to everyone looking to go pro. Apart from the larger hit boxes the smaller resolution and reduced pixel count will make it easier for you to processes what’s going on the screen thus making you react faster to the game.

With that being said, the lower resolution and smaller field of view can also hinder your performance, In fact, we have seen some pro players miss their enemies completely on multiple occasions! The slight disadvantage of a lower field of view can be eliminated with proper map awareness and good cross-hair placement.

Another disadvantage of playing with these “pro” settings is: targets appear to move slightly faster and the action feels a little more fast paced. Most pros use these settings because that’s what they are used to from the 1.6 and source days. For that reason, we believe you should try both, the normal 1920×1080 settings and the “pro” settings for a few hours and choose for yourself!

Remember that the best settings are the settings that feel most comfortable to you!
