VR is taking over the world of pro gaming, and now it can take over your living room.

Now, there are some pretty sweet VR chairs out there. For example, there’s this crazy setup:

Not only do these types of rigs cost thousands of dollars, but they’re just a wraparound screen, not true VR, and they’re only useful for racing games. We’re looking for chairs that are useful for a wide variety of games.

The basic criteria for a VR chair are simple. It should be comfortable, difficult to fall out of, and it should rotate 360 degrees. Some of the chairs also include motion controllers, although those are more expensive, and most games don’t offer support for that feature.

Let’s take a look at the four best VR chairs for your living room.

Most Upgrades – Roto VR Chair

The Roto VR Chair, as a standalone chair, is pretty sweet. It features an adjustable headrest, a triangular cushion for lumbar support, and adjustable armrests. If that’s not enough, it reclines, and it has a barber-stool-style foot pedal to control its motorized base.

Hook up a VR system, and it becomes that much more impressive. It features a built-in head tracker for following your motions, and the foot pedal tracks which way you’re leaning. And of course, the motorized base starts rotating with the action on your screen.

The real value in the Roto VR is in the number of attachments. There’s an optional steering wheel holder, keyboard and mouse platform, and rumble packs for under the seat and behind your back. This chair even supports HOTAS systems, and utilizes the pedal inputs for HOTAS and steering wheel games.

All of these accessories come at a cost. This chair lets you choose whatever you need, and leave the rest behind. That said, the Roto VR is a top of the line gaming chair, with more VR options than any one person could ever use.

Pros:

  • Motorized base with foot pedals
  • Includes head tracker
  • Multiple accessories available

Cons:

  • Expensive

Most Comfortable – Cougar Deluxe Collection Titan Ultimate

If you’re looking for comfort with your VR, you’re probably not trying to find a chair with a motorized base. Instead, you want something that’s going to give you as much support as possible.

We chose the Titan Ultimate because it’s built like a beast. It sports a heavy, steel base, and is built to support 350 pounds. Suffice it to say, this chair is not going to dump you over if you lean over too far while you’re gaming.

This chair is as luxurious as the beaches in Dead or Alive. Not only does it fully recline, but it includes a built-in neck pillow. This isn’t one of those flimsy inflatable things for taking on an airplane. This is a heavy, plush neck pillow that cradles the base of your skull like a racing helmet. The fat lumbar support cushion only makes the Titan Ultimate even more pleasant to lay back in.

This doesn’t have any actual VR features, and it’s fairly pricey. But it rotates 360 degrees, and you can use it to lean back into another world without falling flat on your face.

Pros:

  • Can be fully reclined
  • Built-in neck cushion
  • Plenty of lumbar support
  • 350-pound capacity
  • 4-way adjustable armrests
  • Heavy steel base

Cons:

  • Fairly pricey
  • No actual VR features

Most Affordable – Devoko Ergonomic Gaming Chair

Let’s not beat around the bush here. The Devoko is a budget chair. We chose it because it’s a budget chair. But it’s not exactly your dream VR rig.

Basically, what we went with here was the most barebones possible chair you could comfortably play a VR game in. And there are a few things that makes the Devoko stand out.

To begin with, it’s the most stable gaming chair in its price range. It’s not as stable as a true VR chair, but it won’t flip over when you’re reclined. Did we mention it reclines? That’s something else you won’t find often in this price range.

This chair supports up to 300 pounds, rotates 360 degrees, and generally does everything you need from a VR chair in the strictly mechanical department. It’s also reasonably comfortable, with generous head and lumbar support.

Pros:

  • Can be fully reclined
  • 300-pound weight capacity
  • Affordable

Cons:

  • Not as stable as it should be
  • No actual VR features

Most Advanced – Yaw VR

The Yaw VR is a brand new VR chair that started out last January as a Kickstarter project. Check out their fun, endearingly cheesy launch video:

As you can see, this is a lightweight, portable VR system that rotates 360 degrees while you’re in motion. It includes a VR headset and controller, and is compatible with dozens of VR racing games.

The company has recently started production, and they have a large number of pre-orders, as well as the chairs they already promised to Kickstarter backers. By their current estimates, new orders will take a minimum of 2 months to ship, and might take more than 3 months depending on how things go in the early production run.

The thing we liked most about the Yaw is how comfortable the seating position is. By cradling you in a V shape, the chair makes it almost impossible to fall out no matter how fast you’re changing direction in your game.

Make no mistake, this is an expensive chair. But what did you expect? This is true, motorized, 360-degree VR.

Pros:

  • Lightweight and portable
  • Comfortable
  • 360-degree motorized motion
  • Special promotions for streamers

Cons:

  • Very Expensive
  • Long shipping delays

Verdict

If we had to choose one of these VR chairs as the best, it would be the Roto VR chair. As a standalone, for pure comfort, the Cougar Deluxe is better, but the Roto VR offers some serious VR accessories that the Cougar Deluxe doesn’t.

As for the Yaw VR, it’s clearly got the most features of the bunch. The problem is, it doesn’t actually exist yet. And we’ll take an awesome chair today over a really awesome future chair any time.

Do you already have a VR chair you love? And what do you think of our choices? Let us know in the comments!

Intro

When I think about Corsair I think about their incredible keyboards, their headset line and the time I built my first system.

With that being said I have never associated Corsair with gaming chairs and I didn’t even know Corsair made gaming chairs before I bought my own T1 race gaming chair for this review. That’s why I am so excited to tell you about my experiences with the chair and I hope it will help you come to a more informed decision.

When you first open the package you will be greeted with all the chair parts

A manual and your standard chair assembly tool. The assembly took me 30 minutes and I think it should take you 30-40 minutes too.

Overall the instructions were clear concise and to the point. and i am very satisfied with the assembly process as a whole.

Peformance

This is where The Corsair t1 Race Chair shines. From its great build quality to its beautiful design the Corsair t1 looks and feels great.

The great comfort and design come at a premium price (See Lowest Price) and I would generally not recommend a chair this expensive if you are in the market for a temporary chair or if you are not looking for an extra large chair such as the Corsair T1.

Corsair T1 Tilt function in action

As a 210 pound man I can’t tell you how many times I was disappointed by DX Racers, Noble Chairs and even Maxnomic chairs which were just too small or couldn’t support my weight without moving too much.

That’s why I highly recommend this chair to people who will actually utilize the large size and frame of this chair to its full potential.

If you are on the lighter side I would highly recommend you to look at anything by DX Racer or Maxnomic.

Features

This section is usually loaded when it comes to gaming mice or keyboards which are usually loaded with special gimmicky features, but when it comes to chairs its just not the case.

The Corsair T1 Race gaming chair is height adjustable, it has your normal tilt function and tilt lock handle and its only special features which are worth noting are the arm-rests which can be move in 4 different directions and the Nylon caster wheels.

As for the arm-rests they are great you can easily custom their position to your liking and position them up or down and even left and right which will allow for a much more comfortable gaming experience.

When it comes to the caster wheels that’s a whole different story and I will share my opinions of it in the next section.

The Bad

The Corsair T1 has many things going for it, its affordable its a high performer and it comes from one of the biggest most beloved brands in the gaming community. With that being said the special nylon caster wheels are definitely the T1’s downfall.

The Corsair T1’s Caster wheels

They are flimsy, they fell “light” and most importantly they just glide way too much which makes your sitting experience feel more like sailing on a raft.

To add to the entire list of horrible things I had to say about the casters you can find many people online complaining about the casters breaking!

When I purchased the T1 for this review I was sure all the online amazon reviews are non sense. I told myself it wasn’t possible that wheels which are more expensive and are widely regarded as better wheels then your standard plastic wheels will perform better.

But I was shocked and found out that all the users online were right the T1’s caster wheels are truly that horrible.

With all of that being said the Corsair T1 is still my favorite gaming chair for one reason I swapped the caster wheels with normal plastic wheels which cost 10$ on Amazon and I was set all of the chairs problems were vanquished and all I was left with is the most cost effective chair I have ever owned.

Pick the Corsair t1 Race Gaming Chair if:

You are looking for the most cost effective chair in the market (if you replace the caster wheels)

Don’t pick the Corsair t1 Race Gaming Chair if:

You are on the lighter side don’t need all of that extra support or if you don’t want to replace the caster wheels

Conclusion

The Corsair T1 Gaming chair surprised me on a few levels from its incredible performance to the horrible wheels you will quite literally go for a ride when you first try the T1 for yourself. But when you remove the casters and replace them with your normal plastic wheels all of its problems just go away and all you are left with is the best gaming chair in the mid tier price category.

To put it simply you won’t get a better chair at this price period. (If you swap the wheels)

Thanks for reading my review! I hope you can now make a more informed decision and as always have a great day and an even better gaming day!

Arozzi Verona Pro Full Review

Gaming chairs are becoming a mainstay in terms of vital equipment for gamers. Why though? What’s changed that means an office chair or even the sofa isn’t good enough anymore? The main factor is that people are more in tune with what is and isn’t good for their body now. They know that an office chair doesn’t offer the right levels of support for a long stint gaming, and they certainly know that slouching on a sofa won’t offer the right level of lumbar support. There is one company that is taking this to the next level though.

Arozzi is that company. The Verona Pro from Arozzi is a special gaming chair for one main reason. They have used what they have learned from creating other chairs and put all of the best features into the Verona Pro. So what exactly does the Verona Pro include that sets it apart from other chairs on the market? Can it offer an improvement on their other models?

Features

One of the first, and most important, features that the Verona Pro includes is the ability to adjust almost every aspect of it. This takes into account that every gamer is different, so having a rigid, one position fits all chair just isn’t going to cut it. What does being able to adjust almost every aspect mean though?

Backrest

The backrest has two features that are adjustable. The first is the general position that the backrest takes up. The angle of the backrest can be changed with the use of a lever on the side of the chair. This allows the user to set the chair to whatever level they need to ensure that they have the requisite amount of comfort. There are a number of different angles that the backrest can be set at, which means that any gamer will be able to get comfortable without any worries.

The backrest also has a rocking feature, which allows players to rock back and forth slightly while they are playing. The Verona Pro also has a resistance wheel to either increase or decrease the amount of pushing back that is required to rock the Verona Pro. This allows players who want the chair to remain rigid that opportunity without taking away the rocking function from players who want it.

The Verona Pro is also reinforced to make sure that there are no dangers of the back falling off when gamers lean back, which is a vital feature. While most players won’t require the almost full extension that the Verona Pro offers, it is still a good choice from Arozzi to offer it.

Height Adjustment

The height adjustment is a vital component when it comes to gaming chairs, and the Verona Pro ensures that players have the ability to do so. The class 4 gas powered cylinder means that players can not only move the height of the chair to whatever level they feel comfortable with and it has the strength to hold the position without worries of it dropping down. The lever is strong and well placed, it is easy to find without having the worry of hitting it by accident. All of this works together to make sure that the height adjustment on the Verona Pro doesn’t let gamers don’t at a vital moment.

Armrest

The armrest for the Verona Pro is also fully adjustable. This is an underrated feature in the majority of chairs. The arms of chairs tend to be static and often get in the way if they are not placed in the correct position. The Verona Pro alleviates this problem by making the armrests adjustable. They can be moved up or down, depending on where the user would prefer them and the armrests will then not be a hindrance when gaming. It may seem like a superfluous addition but to anyone who has been impeded by a stray armrest in the past, this is a vital feature.

Lumbar Support

The Verona Pro offers an adjustable lumbar support cushion that adds a level of ergonomic design to it. The cushion itself is remarkably comfortable for something that manages to maintain shape even after hours of use. This is vitally important, as lumbar support must retain comfort as well as support, otherwise sitting in the chair isn’t a pleasant experience.

Lumbar support being included on the Verona Pro also makes sure that the chair is ergonomic. If a chair isn’t ergonomically sound then there is a good chance that it will cause damage to the users back over time, this is obviously not a good thing. The Verona Pro makes sure that this isn’t an issue.

Head Support

The Verona Pro also includes an adjustable head support pillow. While this isn’t as vital as the lumbar support it’s still a welcome addition. The head support pillow is just as comfortable, while still being durable, as the lumbar support pillow. The head support pillow can easily be moved to exactly the right spot. This means that you can place it directly behind your head, or behind your neck. If you’re feeling extra crazy you can even put it between your shoulder blades to add a double whammy of back support.

Comfort

The chair itself is incredibly comfortable. The cushion on the chair is as soft as anything but retains its shape over time. The Pleather covering also offers an excellent experience, although it isn’t as durable as a real leather upholstery would be. This means that there is a slight trade-off. Arozzi have managed to offer an extremely comfortable seat but it will wear down over time. The one positive about the Pleather covering is that it is incredibly easy to wipe down if you spill a drink or yoghurt on it.

Specifications

Adjustable seat height 51 – 57 cm or 20.1-22.4 inches
Chair height 133 – 139 cm or 52.4-54.7 inches
Seat inner width 38 cm or 15”
Seat depth 53 cm or 20.9″
Backrest height 82 cm or 32.3″
Upper backrest inner width 47 cm or 18.5”
Weight Capacity 130kg or 290 lbs.
Netto Weight 22kg or 48.5 lbs
Gross Weight 26kg or 57.3 lbs
Gas Lift Class-4

Competitors

The Omega 2018 by Secret Lab offers a similar experience to the Verona Pro, at a similar price. The Omega 2018 has almost the same amount of backrest recline capabilities as the Verona Pro, but it doesn’t have the ability to rock the chair. This means it offers a similar level of comfort yet not quite at the same level.

The armrests for the Verona Pro don’t manage to live up to what the Omega 2018 offer though. The Omega 2018 has 4-D armrests. The Omega 2018’s armrests can be adjusted in 4 different directions to offer unprecedented levels of comfort. This is a step up in class from what the Verona Pro offers.

The headrest and lumbar support for the Omega 2018 are offered to a similar level as the Verona Pro. While they are just as comfortable and the velour upholstery is even softer than the Pleather that the Verona Pro. However, the Omega 2018 doesn’t have a connected track like the Verona Pro does. This means that it’s sometimes difficult to keep the supports in the right position. This can reduce comfort and support levels.

Pros

Excellent levels of comfort
The lumbar support means it is extremely ergonomic
The ability to adjust the backrest, height and armrests mean that the Verona Pro can be fully customised to every different user.

Cons

It can be difficult to put together when it first comes out of the box
The leather doesn’t offer a high level of durability

Conclusion

The Verona Pro is extremely comfortable and it won’t begin to feel as though it is hardening over time. The cushions are soft but also maintain their shape over time. The Verona Pro chair provides exactly what is required from a gaming chair. This is because most gamers often like to sit down for marathon sessions. The Verona Pro’s leather covering does add to this comfort as it is very soft, but as has been mentioned it doesn’t have the durability of real leather.

Overall, if you’re thinking of investing in a new gaming chair the Verona Pro is an excellent choice. It also comes in on a mid range budget, which makes it more appealing. The Verona Pro doesn’t quite measure up to some of the top of the range models on the market. Top of the range chairs may be out of reach but it does offer an experience that is equal to or better than almost every other mid-range chair around. It has taken all of the best features of other Arozzi chairs and put them all together. This makes the Verona Pro an excellent quality chair.

ClutchChairz Throttle Series PewDiePie Edition Review

PewDiePie is the most famous YouTuber on the planet. There is zero doubt about this, you may not like him and you may find him offensive, but he is the biggest name there is. So with him being a big proponent of Let’s Play, it was only a matter of time before he got his own gaming chair. ClutchChairz Throttle Series are his brand of choice to carry his name, which is not just a well known brand but also one of the top brands on the market.

His endorsement doesn’t necessarily mean that the chair is of a high quality though, when people make the move into celebrity it isn’t uncommon for them to forgo their morals and chase the almighty dollar. That isn’t to say that PewDiePie has done that here, it is our job to find out if the chair lives up to his name as the most famous YouTuber.

So, does the superstar internet celebrity endorsement mean it is a good chair? Or is it just another name brand that fails to live up to the hype? Read on to find out.

Features

The PewDiePie chair from ClutchChairz was in part designed by the man himself. He gave his ideas of what he would like from a chair and the elite design team at ClutchChairz put them into practice the best that they could. The first sign of this is the logo placed front and centre on the chair. The Brofist logo ensures that the PewDiePie seal of approval is all over this chair.

The Base

It’s not just aesthetic features that it has though. It was a wide range of ergonomic and functionality features included as well. The first of which is the heavy duty base. The base itself has a 70cm diameter. This ensures that the base is stable and is resistant to tipping. It’s also made from forged aluminium which gives it extreme levels of strength and durability.

The base can withstand weights up to 2 tons! That’s not just a claim either, it has undergone testing to back it up. The base isn’t just strong, well balanced and durable though. The castors that are attached have a polyurethane coating to make sure that they glide smoothly across most surfaces and won’t leave any marks on the floor either. If you’re the kind of person who likes to kick back on your chair at the end of a game then this is a vital feature. No more leaving marks all over your wooden floors, you can rage quit safe in the knowledge that you won’t have to get down on your hands and knees cleaning later on.

The Armrest

The armrest for the ClutchChairz Throttle Series PewDiePie Edition chair is designed to offer the most comfortable arm positions possible. While this may seem like a bold claim, because everyone likes their arms in different positions, the PewDiePie chair manages to do it. It does this by allowing the armrests to be adjusted in four different directions. The height can be adjusted by moving the arms up or down. They can be moved forwards or backwards. They can be moved from side to side and they can even be rotated by up to 10 degrees in either direction. That gives a full 20 degrees of possible motion. This can be vital to alleviating the causes of RSI as hand and arm position can make the symptoms worse.

The armrest also has plenty of space for you to rest your arms. It’s not too thin, which can lead to parts of the armrest digging into you and causing marks. It has plenty enough space for you to rest your whole arm, and if you choose to plant your elbows there is enough room for them too.

Height and Tilt Adjustments

The chair itself can be tilted at any angle up to 12 degrees. This is due to the wide base which allows increased stability even when the centre of gravity is moving around like it does when the chair is being tilted. As well as allowing this range of tilting, the ClutchChairz Throttle Series PewDiePie Edition chair allows it to be locked in place. So when you find an angle that you feel comfortable at, you don’t have to hold yourself in place with your feet. You can simply push the lock lever and you will be held in place in the perfect position.

The height of the chair can also be adjusted to your own specifications. This will obviously depend on your own height as well as the height of your TV, desk or wherever you play games at. The adjustment is powered by a class 4 gas lift which can hold weights up to 150kg or 330lb if you prefer.

The ability to adjust the height and tilt levels means that potential back problems are a lot easier to avoid as the chair can be catered to the right position so that you’re not placing undue strain on your back, as well as your neck and shoulders.

Frame

The frame for the ClutchChairz Throttle Series PewDiePie Edition chair is one of the most important features that it has. The tubular steel frame is both strong and durable and ergonomically designed to contour with your body as you sit in the chair. It offers support, without being too rigid. ClutchChairz are so confident in the quality of their steel frame that it comes with a lifetime warranty.

The frame also comes with the ability to recline from 85 degrees up to 135 degrees. This is in addition to the tilt of up to 12 degrees that the base allows. This is 50 degrees of movement that the frame allows, meaning that no matter what position you require the chair to be in for maximum comfort it allows it.

The frame is covered in high density, high quality memory foam. This means that the foam will form around your body as you sit in it offering greater levels of comfort and almost a feeling of floating. This allows the frame to offer excellent levels of support without being uncomfortable to sit on, as just a steel frame on its own would be. The memory foam is then covered with PU leather which adds another layer of softness as well as unparalleled comfort.

Additional Support

The ClutchChairz Throttle Series PewDiePie Edition chair isn’t finished there either. The two areas of the body in need of support when sitting are the lumbar region and the neck. In order to ensure that these two areas are given the support that they require the ClutchChairz Throttle Series PewDiePie Edition chair provides a lumbar support cushion and a headrest.

Both of these cushions are packed with high density, high quality foam with the lumbar support cushion being specially shaped to perfectly fit into the lumbar region of the spine. These two components are vital for the long term use of the chair as without them the body would begin to experience pain if the chair was used for a long period of time.

It’s important to mention that the memory foam that is used in both the padding for the seat and the cushions is cold cured high density foam. This means that it is the highest quality available and will never break down over time. You don’t have to worry about your cushion being saggy and feeling like it is empty. It will also continue to provide the highest quality support to both your neck and your lumbar for the lifetime of the chair.

Specifications

Weight limit: 150kg/330lb
Upholstery: PU Leather
Base: Tested to support over 2 tons
70cm diameter offering increased stability
Forged aluminium for strength and durability
Steel frame: High strength tubular steel frame
Backrest: Adjustment angle between 85 -135 degrees

Comparisons

Some of the other chairs on the market do provide a similar experience to the ClutchChairz Throttle Series PewDiePie edition chair.

The first one offer is the Vertagear Racing Series SL4000 Gaming Chair. It comes in at a slightly lower price than the ClutchChairz Throttle but for that, it does offer a lower quality product. The memory foam isn’t of as high quality, the frame isn’t as sturdy or as ergonomically designed and the armrests don’t offer the same level of customisation. That isn’t to say it isn’t a good chair, it just doesn’t hit the heights of the ClutchChairz Throttle series.

Next up is the JL Comfurni Gaming Chair. This is definitely a budget offering coming in at a third of the price of the ClutchChairz Throttle series. While it does offer a number of the same features, like lumbar support and a headrest, the level of quality is significantly lower. It can’t handle the same amount of weight and the weight of the actual chair is a lot lower, which shows it uses lower grade materials. If you’re on a low budget the JL Comfurni may appeal to you, but if you’re able to work with a higher budget this chair is best avoided.

Cost

The ClutchChairz Throttle Series PewDiePie Edition normally retails at a relatively high price. This may seem like a large outlay, but the chair offers a high degree of quality as well as a lifetime guarantee on the frame of the chair. It’s also comparable to other chairs at the top of the range and offers a significantly superior product to a great number of them.

The main thing to take away from the cost of the ClutchChairz Throttle Series PewDiePie Edition chair is that you are paying for the superior materials that are used to make it as well as the higher quality engineering.

Conclusion

The ClutchChairz Throttle Series PewDiePie Edition chair is a high quality chair that offers incredible levels of support and comfort. There are a large number of customisation options available, which means that it can be set up to be perfect for a large range of people. The materials used for the creation of it are all of the highest quality and the build quality is second to none.

It does require some DIY skills to put it together when it first arrives, but the instructions provided in the manual make it almost an idiot proof process. Everything is machined superbly, so there are no worries about parts not fitting flush like with lesser products on the market. The only part where you may need some help is when placing the chair on the stand as it can be difficult to hold it in place and line it up at the same time.

The chair itself is designed for bigger people, so it may feel a little bit overwhelming for people of a more diminutive size, like children for example. ClutchChairz do offer smaller sized chairs if this is a problem, but their build quality may not be up to the same standards as the Throttle series, and specifically the PewDiePie model.

The level of support offered for the lumbar and neck is superb, although the lumbar cushion is perhaps slightly too bulky at first, once the memory foam has formed into a position it offers excellent levels of comfort to go with the top quality support.

The overall build quality and confidence that ClutchChairz have in their product is backed up by the lifetime guarantee that they offer on the steel frame and the 3 year warranty that they offer for the additional lumbar support and headrest. It shows that they have the utmost confidence in the product that they have created.

If you’re a gamer, you have definitely seen the racing chairs that all the pros and twitch streamers sit on. There are so many different brands of racing chairs that it may get confusing. Two big players we’ll be looking at for you are are DXRacer and Maxnomic (aka: NeedforSeat). But the question that you’ll often find yourself thinking is: what is the difference? Well, look no further because we’re about to help you figure out which of these two brands you should invest your money in at three different price points. Which brand is more worth it, and which chair is the most worth it?

Why get a gaming chair in the first place?

Well, gaming chairs – despite being marketed heavily towards gamers – are extremely good for your spine’s health. More often than not, you will see some sort of lumbar support, wide angle recline, and padding. The support a gaming chair supplies maximizes your time in front of your computer by taking stress off the important parts of your body when sitting.

These gaming chairs are also developed to aesthetically look like race car chairs. This may or may not be a positive because the heavily modern style of these chairs may look attractive to gamers, but rather unprofessional if used for professional purposes.

Introduction:

DXRacer – King of the Hill

  • DXRacer is probably the most well-known brand between the two. They have massive markets in both the USA and Europe, and their shipping locations are the most abundant, as well. DXRacer has also partnered with many well-known eSports brands to co-develop chairs for fans to enjoy; these teams include Cloud9, SK Telecom T1, Counter Logic Gaming, Fnatic, etc.
They have the biggest selection of gaming chairs and these chairs are split into six categories: Formula, Racer, Valkyrie, King, Sentinel, and Tank series. Each series is built specifically for different types of people from the budget friendly customers to the tall and lengthy customers. Their entry level chair – the Formula Series – will start off at a relatively low price, making DXRacer the cheapest when it comes to entry level chairs. Their most expensive model, the Tank Series, will set you back a hefty sum.

Maxnomic – The Newbie

  • Maxnomic is a fairly new contender in the gaming chair market – having only started in 2012 in Ohio, US by a company called NeedForSeat. Even with their late start, they have impacted the market – having been picked up by a few big games in the gaming and tech scene, namely Riot Games, Linus Media Group, Team SoloMid, etc.

Their gaming chairs are divided into three categories: Casual Sport, Pro-Gaming & Office, Office, and XL Series. Their entry level chairs in the Casual Sport category are the most expensive of all the entry level chairs of the brands we’ve tested. However, they do advertise that their build quality is significantly better than competitors and worth the extra money you’re paying for. NeedForSeat has a Tear Down page on their website and it looks rather convincing. Their most expensive chairs, from the XL Series (the equivalent to DXRacer’s tank series), will cost you a considerable amount of money (a little less than the tank series). An additional option that makes Maxnomic chairs stand out is that you customize parts of the chair like the seat piston size and base material.

Individual Buying Options:

Let’s get to the top you’ve all been waiting for: buying options! We’ll be tackling DXRacer and Maxnomic at three different price points so you can decide which models are best for you and most worth the bang for your buck! Bolded lines are considered improvements from the immediate model down.

Compared to the budget options, the Racing Series looks like the most bang for your buck. The improvements are rather vast for the small price increase: you’ll be getting 3D adjustable arms, multi-lever tilt, tilt angle lock, a better base with larger wheels, and better surface material. The price increase for the King Series does not provide as many functional improvements, but does provide many premium features like better fabrics, 4D adjustable arms, a metal base, etc. It will be up to you if you think the improvements are worth the extra money.

Maxnomic:

Our Recommendation: Thunderbolt

Maxnomic Thunderbolt

Maxnomic Thunderbolt $ Maxnomic Dominator $$ Maxnomic Ergoceptor Pro $$$

It was extremely difficult to figure out what the improvements are from each tier of chairs – their website gives the bare minimum specifications. In fact, you would probably find more information on their chairs in YouTube reviews than their own website. That being said, it is impressive enough that each model is equipt with 4D adjustable arms, multi-lever mechanism, and an aluminum base. This makes their entry level chair, the Thunderbolt, a heavy competitor when comparing it to DXRacer’s equivalent chairs – the Formula Series.

Unfortunately, due to the lack of information and how solid their Thunderbolt looks, it’s rather difficult to recommend the Dominator chair because the only improvement found is simply higher quality fabric used on their chairs. Their Ergoceptor Pro – the most premium model – also looks promising, sporting double padded seat and lumbar areas for additional support, as well as the multi-fabric surface used on their chairs.

NeedforSeat makes it very apparent that what you pay for is extremely good build quality – having done an entire chair teardown to help draw in potential customers. While their warranty only lasts for two years, customers should feel very comfortable and secure with their purchase knowing that the Maxnomic chairs are built with top quality materials.

Side by Side Comparison:

Budget Friendly:

Our Recommendation: Maxnomic Thunderbolt

DXRacer Formula Series $ Maxnomic Thunderbolt $

  • Class 4 Gas lift
  • Mesh surface
  • eSports partnership chairs
  • Included pillow set
  • Two-year warranty
  • Maximum support of up to 176 pounds and 5’ 9”

The Maxnomic Thunderbolt. At a cheaper price, you get 4D adjustable arms, multi-lever tilt mechanism, tilt angle lock, and a metal base. You lose the massive 135 degree recline and lifetime warranty from the Formula Series, but you gain much more for that trade-off. Unfortunately, if you’re heavier than 80 kg (176 pounds), you should play it safe and stick with the Formula series since it supports 24 pounds more. While the Formula Series chairs are not bad, they’re not at the same level of build quality in comparison to the Maxnomic Thunderbolt.

Medium Price Point:

Our Recommendation: DXRacer Racing Series

DXRacer Racing Series

DXRacer Racing Series $$ Maxnomic Dominator $$
  • Three-directional adjustable arms
  • 135 degree recline
  • Multi-Lever Tilt Mechanism

  • Class 4 Gas lift
  • Pleather surface
  • Included pillow set
  • eSports partnership chairs
  • Two-year warranty
  • Maximum support of up to 220 pounds and 6’ 1”

For only a small price difference, the improvements you get from the Maxnomic Dominator and the tradeoffs for not purchasing a DXRacer Racing Series net out to be a negative. As great as a metal base is and as functional as 4D adjustable arms can be – giving up the massive degree of recline and lifetime warranty on DXRacer’s chairs just isn’t worth the extra money you’ll be spending. Not to mention the Racing Series chair supports heavier and taller people.

Premium Tier:

Our Recommendation: DXRacer King Series

Dxracer King Chair

DXRacer King Series $$$ Maxnomic Ergoceptor Pro $$$
  • Four-directional adjustable arms
  • 135 degree recline
  • Multi-Lever Tilt Mechanism
  • Tilt Angle Lock
  • Aluminium base with 3-inch caster wheels
  • 16-inch seat
  • Lumbar Support
  • Class 4 Gas lift
  • Carbon Vinyl and Pleather surface
  • Included pillow set
  • eSports partnership chairs
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Maximum support of up to 300 pounds and 6’ 2”
  • Four-dimensional adjustable arms
  • 67 degree recline
  • Multi-Lever Tilt Mechanism
  • Tilt Angle Lock

  • Pleather and Microfibre surface
  • Included pillow set
  • eSports partnership chairs
  • Two-year warranty
  • Maximum support of up to 220 pounds and 6’ 1”

At the premium tier, the playing field gets leveled significantly. However, DXRacer edges out the Maxnomic Ergoceptor Pro due to its lifetime warranty. At an investment that would easily cost you a decent graphics card, lifetime warranty on such an expensive item cannot be ignored. The fact that the DXRacer King also gets the infamous 135 degree recline sweetens the deal too. However, if you do want to save the difference, which by all means is a respectable amount of money, then the Maxnomic Ergoceptor Pro is definitely still a great chair.

Final Thoughts:

DXRacer is being taken a run for its money by newcomer, Maxnomic in the budget gaming chair scene. At the discount price the Maxnomic Thunderbolt takes the lead with higher quality material and premium features. It’s hard to top the amount of value you get from the Thunderbolt.

The higher up you go more premium qualities and features you will get. While Maxnomic chairs started off with a bang, they have cooled off and left DXRacer still reign supreme in the higher tiers. There just are not enough features that Maxnomic can keep on adding in order for them to maintain the heavy lead they had in the budget friendly tier. DXRacer practically won based on the massive back recline, amazing warranty, and larger size capacity.

None of this is any discredit to what NeedforSeat has done with Maxnomic because they have won the publicity and trust from many industry leaders. Whatever your decision is in the end, know that you should have full confidence in your purchase by either of the two brands.
